What is Relay For Life?

What is Bark for Life?
Bark for Life is a new event that we will be planning jointly with the Brazos Valley Relay for Life team. This event will happen some time in February. As the name would suggest, you can bring your dog and walk around the track!
What is the American Cancer Society?
For more than 100 years, the American Cancer Society (ACS) has worked relentlessly to save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. Together with millions of our supporters worldwide, we help people stay well, help people get well, find cures, and fight back against cancer. The American Cancer Society is the second largest funder of cancer research after the government.
How can I help?
Make/join a team, volunteer your services or join the committee. Many hands help share the workload and we are seeking assistance to help the committee organize the event. This is a great opportunity to shape the future of your Relay and support your community toward the fight against cancer. Contact us through our email at [email protected] if you would like to join the committee!
When is Relay For Life of Aggieland?
Relay For Life of Aggieland will be held on March 23, 2019.
What happens at Relay Weekend?
During the weekend, team members walk laps around the track to represent the fight against cancer never stopping. Teams also bring tents to “camp-out” in during the weekend. Additionally, we have bands, performances by on-campus groups, and many fun games and activities!
Who can make a team?
Anyone! Student organizations, sports teams, greek organizations, or just you and a group of friends. Relay For Life’s mission is to involve as many different groups as possible and unite them all in the fight against cancer.
What do teams do?
Relay For Life teams are the heart and soul of Relay. They are the source of over 90% of fundraising for the American Cancer Society and through online fundraising campaigns, and various fundraisers both on- and off- campus, they contribute to Relay For Life’s mission of raising money for the ACS.
Do I have to walk the whole time?
No. We ask that, to represent the fact that "cancer never sleeps", each team has a representative walking the track at all times. This should not be just one person – team members can take shifts.
Where does the money go?
All donations go directly to the American Cancer Society. The ACS raises over $360 million each year and uses these funds to sponsor cancer research and to support cancer patients undergoing treatment.
How do I sign up?
Signing up is easy and can be done online at www.relayforlife.org/texasamtx!
I'm a Survivor, do I have to pay?
There is no fee for Survivors to participate!
My friend is not registered but wants come hang out - is that okay?
The more the merrier! Please have your friend check in at the Registration Table and fill out a Registration Form. This is a fundraising event so we ask each guest for a $10 minimum donation.
